Planning and Review

Wifi Rental

Not much choice, booked with www.miaegean.com, a Bulgarian company had service only in Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece.
The wifi router could be sent to Athens Airport, to Care4Bag counter, showing my passport (the counter guys did not know anything about the wifi rental, the rental company just delivered material to them to be taken by us).
Also there was some error with their website, needed some guidance, but they replied emails well.
Generally, I was satisfied with the company.

Airlines

Aegean Airline and Olympic Air

They are sister company and completely share all their flights.
Though they had their own websites, all the price etc. was the same.
The cheapest price was without luggage. The luggage was cheaper if bought online.
Got snack and water on flight.
Booked directly at their website, though also checked Kayak.com and Skyscanner.

Ryan Air

They have direct flight Athens-Santorini.
Cheapest option.

Car Rental

Santorini

Booked Hertz through Aegean Airline.
The counter was in the airport.
The counter closed early at 21:30, opened only at 07:00.
The gear was a bit hard to operate, there was a ring on the stick that had to be pulled upward.

Zakynthos

Booked Enterprise through their own website.
The counter was outside the airport, but close.

Accommodation

Athens

Acropolis Luxury Suite

Booked at Agoda.
Initially booked Acropolis Boutique Suite, but due to double booking, the owner, Mr. Takis, relocated us to upgrade Acropolis Luxury Suite for EUR 104.5.
A great value for an apartment with 3 bedrooms, nicely decorated and great location in front of Hadrian Arch.
The view from front window was Hadrian Arch and Temple of Zeus, from back window was Acropolis!
The facility in the apartment was great too.
Mr. Takis provided also transportation from/to airport for EUR 35, which was a good value.

Santorini

Dana Villas

Booked at Expedia for USD 483.24 for 3 nights (13-16 December 2016).
Located in Firostefani village, north of Fira (main town in Santorini), about 15 minutes walk.
It was a cave (carved into the cliff) accommodation.
There was a good parking area, opposite the entrance of the stairs to the hotel, but Google Map directed to other parking area located further. So better to call the hotel asking direction, not following Google Map.

What I liked:
- The staffs were super friendly.
- The location, though needed to walk a lot of stairs. It was not in the Fira main town.
- The view of the Caldera was nice.

What I didn't like:
- The room was a bit small for 4 persons. 2 beds on the loft and 2 beds were made of sofas.

Zakynthos

Palatino Hotel

Booked at Expedia for USD 246.56 for 2 nights (18-20 December 2016).
It was like a business hotel.
Located not far from the city center of Zakynthos Town, less than 10 minutes walking to the main square.

What I didn't like:
- There was no water kettle to make hot water for drink.

What I liked:
- The bathroom with big bath tub.

Dining

Athens

Ouzeri Kouklis
Only about 20 items in the menu.
It was located in the touristic Plaka district.
We loved this family run restaurant food, though the staff, looked like gloomy (not happy).
Recommended in Japanese guidebook Arukikata.

Vyzantino Restaurant
Recommended by Japanese guidebook Arukikata.
This restaurant is located in tourist area, where many restaurants were located.
The food was OK.
The grilled octopus as recommended in the book was good too.

Mani Mani Restaurant
Mani Mani Restaurant was a very popular restaurant in Athens.
It was walkable distance from Acropolis.
Recommended.
Reservation was a must to avoid fully booked.
I was happy with the food.
Located on the upper floor, only stairs to climb up.

Santorini

Vitrin Cafe in Oia
A nice cafe in Oia with sunset view.
Pelican Kipos Restaurant at Fira Town
This restaurant located in Fira Town center was our favourite.
We loved the food and the cozy place and the friendly staff.
My Mum loved it that much that we visited them twice.
Naoussa Restaurant in Santorini
Recommended in Japanese guide book Arukikata.
Naoussa Restaurant was located in Fira, just near the Cathedral and Hotel Atlantis.
I don't think we liked it the food.

Zakynthos

House of Lata
House of Lata is a traditional Greek restaurant with live music on weekend.
It was location on the hill just down the castle.
Nearby there was another cafe bistro and a church.
From outside of the restaurant, a nice view of the city.
We just had a coffee and desert at the restaurant.
The Rustic Restaurant: Ampelostrates
We wanted to go Alitzeroi, restaurant in the middle of nowhere in Lonely Planet, but it was closed. When we asked the shop opposite the Alitzeroi, she recommended us to go to this rustic restaurant in a vineyard.
We followed the direction in Google Map and finally found it this place, with bad access.
From the main road (small village asphalt road), we entered to a sand (non-asphalt) road, for about 500 metres, finally we found the restaurant.
We were happy with this unique experience.
They were open only during weekend and it was full with local people.
Their menu was hand writing on a paper and the restaurant staff didn't speak well English.
The taste of the food was OK.
In the end, the owner gave us free rakija (traditional fruit liquor).
Restaurant in Zakynthos Town: Yard of the Taste
Found this restaurant with good review in the internet (Google and Trip Advisor) and was happy with it.
Nicely decorated and located in the city center.
The food and the service were good too, and the price was reasonable.
